This 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda is a tailored gorilla trekking package designed for visitors interested in experience gorilla trekking in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park as well gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.
Watching two separate gorilla families allows you to observe and compare group behaviors and dynamics. No gorilla group is the same in composition, some have more silverback, females and overall number of individuals. You might find one group has a mother with twins while another has only young juveniles, also the terrain in Rwanda is more mountainous and gorillas feed mostly on the bamboo forest. Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali, City Tour and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel or at Kigali International Airport upon arrival and take you for a half-day tour of the Kigali City on which you visit souvenir shops, the former presidential palace, the genocide memorial Centre and the main city market. After the city tour, you will start a 4 hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the amazing countryside of Rwanda.
You will arrive in Bwindi in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest & Visit the Batwa Pygmies
Wake up early, have breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing which is conducted by the head Guide at 7:00 am, he will take you through the right way to conduct yourself while in the presence of the gorillas. you will be assigned a gorilla group to trek and be given an opportunity to hire a porter.
Venture into Bwindi Forest looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. With a help of trackers who go before you, you will be able to locate the gorillas.
You are allowed to spend only hour in the presence of the gorilla watching them groom, play, feed and take amazing pictures. Then trek back to the park headquarters, meet your drive and head back to your lodge for a short rest and refreshment. In the late afternoon, you will be taken to visit the Batwa Pygmy Community living near the park, these pygmy people were the original inhabitants of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest but were relocated outside of the park as a way of saving the gorillas. On this visit, you will be entertained by local dances and drama, visit the traditional healer, learn about their culture among others.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda – Visit the Gorilla Guardians Village
After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey to Volcanoes National Park with lunch en-route. When you arrive in the park, you will check in at your lodge for relaxation and refreshment. Later in the day, you will head to The Gorilla Guardians Village, formerly known as the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. The village was started as a place where former poachers would sell souvenirs to tourists, it was revamped by the government and turned it into one of the best cultural centers in East Africa. You will spend the afternoon being entertained by traditional dance performances or dress up in the traditional robes for photos.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park – Departure
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing at 7:00 am. The briefing covers topics about mountain gorillas, the history of the park, gorilla groups and what to expect.
After the briefing, you will be led into the forest by Park Rangers/Guide. Expect to pass through thick bamboo forest with amazing creatures. After the exhilarating trek, you will be rewarded with one hour of watching the gorillas. After one hour of observing these amazing primates, you will had back to the starting point for lunch then checkout of your lodge and drive back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at airport for your flight back home.
