Bisate Lodge is tucked into trees with six Forest Villas that make up the lodge, tucked into a swathe of rehabilitated Virunga Massif cloudforest are exceptional, inside and out. Perched dramatically on the edge of an eroded volcanic crater at Volcanoes National Park in North-western Rwanda, the lodge has breath-taking views of the brooding Bisate and Karisimbi Volcanic Peaks, and is within easy driving distance of the park’s headquarters where daily gorilla treks begin.

The traditional shapes of the suites are a nod to Rwandan Culture, while the sumptuous interiors maximize comfort and warmth while making the most of the scenic views. Each 91 square metre villa consists of a generous yet intimate combination of bedroom, reception space and bathroom, all warmed by a central fireplace and with breathtaking views out across your private deck towards Mount Bisoke.
Blending the traditional with the modern, the exquisite guest areas feature floor to ceiling windows through which you can marvel at the world outside while enjoying a refreshing drink at the elegant bar or the contemporary wine cellar.
Fusing local Rwandan flavors with contemporary international cuisine, enjoy wholesome farm – to – table dishes including wild honey, avocado, climbing beans, mango, kale, papaya, plantain, passion fruit, pineapple, macadamia nuts and chilies. Fresh produce is sourced from the onsite kitchen garden. The Rwandan coffee is a highlight for many.
The wine cellar is spectacular and a great spot for a romantic dinner and sipping on a fine glass of wine. Activities in the area include gorilla tracking, cultural villages visits, sightings of the golden monkey, birding and tours to several places of interest such as Lakes Ruhondo and Burera, the Musanze Caves and the grave of Dian Fossey.

Bisate’s vegetable garden is an ecosystem intended to be sustainable and self – sufficient. Our menu comprises seasonal ingredients for freshness, the majority of which are from our own garden. The lodge also supports the communities already growing crops, and source our red-skinned and wonderfully starch potatoes, as well as our eggs, organic and free range, from its neighbors.

Forest Villa
The lodge will host just 12 guests in six spacious suites, each with beautiful views of the forest and distant peaks of Volcanoes National Park. Full en-suite bathrooms are generously designed with a walk-in shower, twin basins, a large bathtub and plenty of luxurious amenities.
General Facilities
From outside, Bisate’s structures mimic traditional huts on the while interiors are sumptuous, offering comfort, warmth and luxury. In addition to six spacious suites, the lodge has a large living area with fireplace and a cosy wine cellar. You will be able to enjoy walks through the 2-6 hectare reserve and learn about the reforestation project. The national park headquarters are located within easy driving distance, from where the gorilla treks depart daily.
