Day 1: Arrival for Uganda & Rwanda gorilla and wildlife safari

To start your safari, you will be picked up by our guide upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe for overnight.

Day 2:  Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Rhino tracking

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked and embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park with en-route stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a walk with the rhinos. You will receive briefing from the ranger on how to behave while in search of rhinos, then head into the bushes where you will see the rhinos in the shades and grazing.

After this wonderful experience, you will head to Masindi where you will have lunch and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3:  Game drive and Boat Safari

Wake up early for breakfast and leave for the northern banks of River Nile for game viewing experience, from the rooftop of your safari vehicle. You will be able to see several animals including Hyenas, Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Jackson’s Hartebeests, Oribi, Kobs, giraffes, among others.

After lunch at your lodge, you will go a boat safari on the scenic Victoria Nile that brings you to view the falls from the bottom. The boat ride offers opportunities for watching game associated with the water such as Nile crocodiles, hippos and those that come for water like elephants, cape buffaloes and plenty of bird species.

Day 4: To Kibale national park – Uganda primate tours

Wake up early for breakfast and leave for Kibale National Park known as the primate capital of the world because of its high concentration of primates and the ease to see them, this journey is long and takes you through beautiful views of the countryside and colorful local markets in some place. With a stopover for lunch, we arrive at the lodge in the evening ready for chimp trekking the next day.

Drive time – 5 hours

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park

Have early breakfast and drive straight to the briefing point at 07:00 am, the ranger guide will offer you a brief about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking, what to expect while in the forest and the way to behave once in the forest. Generally, chimpanzees move all over the place which requires you to be fit and in position to keep following them as they search for food.

The hike in the forest can take about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where they nested the previous night, your ranger guide will lead the way as hike through the forest.

You will have chances of sighting other primates like red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, various bird species and mammals like Elephants, buffaloes or wild pigs. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you are allowed 1 hour in their presence and remember that flash photography is not allowed and so is eating or smoking in the presence of the chimps.

In the afternoon, you will go for a visit to the Bigodi community. The village walk will take you to the swamp which is home to different bird species, primates and plants. Also, you will visit the home for coffee experience, banana beer brewing, basketry and listen to the tales of the medicine man.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. When you arrive in the park, you will go for a game drive as you head to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will return to the park for another game drive till evening. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Game drive and Boat Safari

After an early breakfast, you will head to the Kasenyi Section of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive enjoying the scenic back drop of Mount Rwenzori and a host several habitats for wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, lions, leopards among others.

In afternoon, you will go to the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes Edward and George for a boat safari. On this boat ride, lookout for crocodiles, hippos, elephants and several bird species especially the elegant Pied and Malachite kingfishers.

Day 8: Transfer to Ishasha sector to search for tree climbing Lions

After breakfast, leave for the Ishasha Sector in the Southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park which is home to several families of tree climbing lions which you will see lounging on tree branches.

Day 9: Game drive in Ishasha

Spend the day in the plains of the Ishasha Sector searching for the tree climbing lions, sometimes they are elusive and all is not lost. You will enjoy beautiful sundowner and lots of other mammals.

Day 10: Transfer to Rwanda

After breakfast, you will transfer to Rwanda with border crossing through Cyanika border and continue to Musanze/Kinigi – Rwanda. Along the way you will enjoy scenic views of the beautiful landscape, arrive later in the afternoon, check in at your lodge as you wait for dinner and then spend the night.

Drive Time – 6 hours

 

Day 11: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

Have an early breakfast and transfer to the park’s headquarters for briefing before your gorilla trek, a ranger guide will take you through the rules and regulations to follow while in the misty forest. You should report at the park headquarters for briefing at 07:00 am to receive a briefing before your gorilla trekking, enjoy pure Rwanda coffee as you listen to the briefing with interludes of traditional dances.

After the briefing from the ranger guide, you will be divided into different groups and head into the forests in search for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 4 hours or more and once you locate the gorillas. You will be allowed to spend one hour watching the gorillas as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young.

Day 12: Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park

After breakfast, you will again head to the briefing area but this time for golden monkey, the procedure is more or less like the gorilla trekking with briefing from the ranger guides before splitting into different groups depending on how many people are present.

Once you locate the golden monkeys that are more active, this therefore requires you to be fit as you move to follow them. The experience will keep you on your toes as you watch them forage for food especially the bamboo shoots and occasionally uproot post-harvest potatoes from the gardens of people living adjacent to the park.

In the afternoon, you will visit a cultural village or community walk interacting with the Rwandan people.

Day 13: Transfer to Kigali

Leave for Kigali City for a short city tour visiting the Kigali genocide memorial center, Kandt museum and shop for art and crafts. Depending on availability of time, you will also visit the reconciliation village outside of Kigali City and hear the stories of genocide survivors as they live alongside the perpetrators.

Day 14: Departure

Depending on your flight time, your guide will drop you at the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
