Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali
Arrive at Kigali International Airport, meet our representative – your driver guide and head to Kigali City for a tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial and several craft shops, enjoy lunch and transfer to Volcanoes National Park at around 2 pm. The journey involves driving through the hills showcasing the country’s famous terrain, steadily climb to the foothills of the remarkable Virunga Volcanoes.
Arrive in Kinigi in late afternoon, check in at your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda
After breakfast, set out for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. Join other visitors at the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas, in groups of 8 people head into the forest searching for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other.
Trek back to the starting point, meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking Experience
After breakfast, you will head back to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey trekking, attend a briefing session at the park headquarters in Kinigi and then head into the forest looking for the golden monkeys found in the Bamboo forests.
Unlike gorilla trekking, this trek is relatively fair and when you find the golden monkeys you will spend one hour of watching them play, feed, jump from one tree branch to another among other. Golden monkeys are very curious animals and do not be surprised when they come to your feet. Return to your lodge for lunch ad in the afternoon you will pay a visit to one of the local schools and local community projects.

Day 4: Trek Dian Fossey’s Visit and Transfer to Uganda
After breakfast, you will head to Volcanoes National Park for a walk to Dian Fossey’s Grave. On this experience you will learn about the life of Dian Fossey and her work in the forests of Volcanoes National Park towards saving the endangered mountain gorillas. You will see her grave next to her most beloved mountain gorilla – Digit.
After this informative experience, you will embark on a journey to Uganda with bordering cross at Cyanika Border. After clearing with the Border Authorities, continue the journey with en-route lunch. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, check and spend the evening at rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Uganda
Have early breakfast at the lodge, set off to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking. A senior ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas and in groups of 8 people, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spend their previous night.
Spend one hour as you watch them play, feed, groom each other and take as many photos and videos as possible as long as your flashlight is off. Later return to the starting point, meet your driver guide and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Drive to Kampala
Today marks the last day of your Gorilla Trek in Uganda and Rwanda. After a delicious breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey to Kampala with a lunch stop in Mbarara and at the Equator Crossing for pictures and a chance to stand in both Northern and Southern Hemispheres. You will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
