Detailed itinerary of 15 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport- Pick up  

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative, transfer you to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.

Dinner and overnight at Best Western Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls

After an early breakfast, you will meet your guide and embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park. The journey takes you through Luwero, a historical area where you will get to buy some fresh fruits. You will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track Rhinos on foot, have lunch and continue to Murchison Falls National Park, head to the top of the beautiful Murchison Falls where you can take amazing pictures of the great Nile exploding through a small 7 meter gorge and thunderous drop to over 43 meters below.

Murchison Falls National Park is a habitat to more than 76 mammal species including Giraffes, Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Spotted Hyenas and Warthogs, as well as jackals and over 450 bird species. There are also several primate species including Chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, Bush babies, Black & White Colobus Monkeys plus the L’ hoest Monkeys.

Head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Game drive and Boat ride

After breakfast, head to the park for an early morning game drive looking for the early morning risers, look for buffaloes, oribis, elephants, hyenas, Rothschild giraffes, lions, kobs and waterbucks together with colorful birds. Head back to the lodge for lunch and short rest.

In the afternoon, have a boat ride along the Victoria Nile at the base of the Murchison Falls, the boat ride on River Nile goes for 3 hours and you will be able to see Nile Crocodiles, numerous hippos, buffaloes, elephants as well as various bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4- Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest  

Following a delicious breakfast, head to Kaniyo Pabidi Forest where you will be briefed about chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest, you will walk under old tree species and there you will see several bird species such as Lemon-bellied cromnec, chestnut-capped flycatcher among others. After spending an hour with the chimpanzees, you will head back to the lodge.

You will spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge, have dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale with Fort Portal Tour

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park through Fort Portal Town, you will have a stopover at the Amabere Ganyina Mwiru – a limestone area filled with stalagmites plus stalactites. They are traditionally referred to as “breasts of Nyinamwiru” the mother of the very first Bachwezi King, you will also visit the crater lakes within the area.

Continue to Kibale, arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6- Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Nature walk

Have early breakfast, meet your guide and proceed to the park headquarters of Kibale National Park for briefing regarding chimpanzee trekking and the dos and don’ts, head into the forests of Kibale looking for chimpanzees. You will enjoy seeing various primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest Monkeys among others.

When you find the chimpanzee family you are trekking, you will spend one hour in the presence watching them go on with their life in the forest.

Head back to the lodge for your lunch, later have a walk in the swamp where to see other primates plus bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7-8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, head to Queen Elizabeth National Park popular for its diverse wildlife such as hippos, elephants, buffaloes as well as Uganda Kobs plus various bird species. In the afternoon after lunch, you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to see hippos and crocodiles plus water birds such as herons, cormorants among others. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have early breakfast, checkout and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park renowned for the rare tree climbing lions.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned gorilla trekking destination where visitors have a chance to see the endangered mountain gorillas. Along the way you will have lunch, arrive in the park in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at the lodge after enjoying lunch. Dinner and overnight.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Day 10: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest

Have early breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking. Head into the forest and begin search for the gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

You are allowed to spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas observing them play, feed and cater for each other. Take as many photos as long as your flashlight is off. Return to the park headquarters to pick your gorilla certificates, meet your guide and head back to your lodge for an evening of rest,

Day 11: Transfer to Kigali and Ruhengeri

After breakfast, checkout of the lodge and head to Ruhengeri via Kigali where you will have a city tour, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre to see a few of the remains of the victims who were murdered during the genocide.

Later continue to Volcanoes National Park arriving in the evening, have dinner and overnight.

Day 12- Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking. In groups of 8 people, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of gorillas and where they spent their previous night, when you locate the gorillas you are allowed to spend only hour with the gorillas watching them groom each other, and take amazing pictures.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 13: Golden Monkey Trekking – Transfer to Akagera National Park

Have early breakfast and return to the park headquarters for briefing about golden monkey trekking, in groups of 8 people you will head into the Bamboo forests where the cute golden monkeys live.

The trek is relatively less strenuous compared to gorilla trekking, you will spend one hour watching the golden monkeys play from one branch to another, pick fruits and take amazing pictures.

After this amazing Rwanda Primate Safari Experience, head back to your lodge and embark on a journey to Akagera National Park. Arrive late in the afternoon, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Game Viewing Safari in Akagera National Park

Have early breakfast, meet your ranger and go for a full day game viewing safari in Akagera National Park. Game drive offers you the opportunity to spot a variety of wild animals such as elephants, impalas, baboons, oribis, leopard and bushbucks among others.

Return to the lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, proceed for a boat trip along Lake Ihema where you will have a closer look at water animals like crocodiles, hippos and several bird waters. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Game Drive in Akagera National Park

Day 15- Departure

Start the day with early game drive in the savannah plains of Akagera, then embark on a journey back to Kigali with en-route lunch. Your guide will drop you off at the airport to catch your flight back home.
