This 14 Days Uganda – Rwanda Safari is a combined Rwanda and Uganda Safari offering a grand opportunity to explore these two beautiful countries, visit Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, then cross over to Rwanda to visit Volcanoes National Park and Akagera National Park.

Detailed itinerary of 14 Days Uganda – Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport and transfer to Kampala.

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative (your private safari guide) and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park with a scenic drive through the countryside of Uganda and have a visit at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking. Have lunch in Masindi and continue to Murchison Falls National Park, head to the top of Murchison Falls where you will see River Nile squeezing through the narrow gorge to create Murchison Falls – the world’s most powerful waterfalls. Then head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Wake up early and head to the park for a morning game drive, anticipate to see a variety of animals like buffaloes, elephants, lions and several antelope species. Later return to your lodge for breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon go for a boat cruise up to the bottom of the falls bringing you closer to hippos, crocodiles and a variety of migratory birds along the banks of Albert Nile. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park with en-route lunch and incredible views of tea plantations and the rift valley escarpment. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimp Trekking & a Nature Walk

Wake up early, have breakfast and head to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for briefing about chimpanzee trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of chimpanzees. Head into the forest looking for chimpanzees, expect to see other primates including grey checked mangabeys, L’Hoest, red-tailed and the vervet monkeys. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will be allowed to spend only one hour in their presence watching them go on with their life in the forests of Kibale Forest

In the afternoon you will have a nature in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birding, some of the remarkable birds to lookout for include the beautiful turaco. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast you will bid farewell to Kibale Forest National Park heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park. When you arrive in the park, you will have a short game drive en-route to the lodge. Check-in, have lunch and short rest. In the afternoon you will go for a Kazinga Channel boat cruise, the channel connects Lake Edward to Lake George and is home to huge population of hippos, elephants and various water birds which you will enjoy sight of during the boat cruise. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Game drive in Kasenyi Plains

After breakfast you will to the Kasenyi Plains (northern sector of the park) for a full day game drive. The Kasenyi Plains are known for offering the best game viewing experience, you will have an opportunity to encounter cats including lions and leopards. This trail is gifted with big herds of elephants, buffaloes and different antelope species.

Day 8: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have a relaxed morning with a delicious breakfast, later checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a game drive in Ishasha Sector popular for hosting the rare tree climbing lions. You will have a chance to see these rare creatures lounging on tree branches.

Continue to Bwindi Forest with en-route lunch. Arrive in the park in the late afternoon, check in and spend the rest of the day at rest getting ready for the next day’s adventure.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters where you will join other trekkers for briefing about gorilla trekking. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, enter into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas on a trek of approximately 2 to 6 hours.

You are allowed to spend only one hour observing the gorillas go with their life in the forest. Return to the park headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificates, then head back to your lodge for an evening of rest. Have dinner and overnight as above.

Day 10: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda

After enjoying breakfast, you will head to Volcanoes National Park with border crossing at Cyanika Border. Continue to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Kigali

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about dos and don’ts while in the forest and presence of the golden monkeys. Trek into the forests looking for the beautiful golden monkeys found in the bamboo forest, watch them jump from one tree to another and pick fruits. Return to the lodge for lunch, later checkout and embark on a journey to Kigali City.

Day 12: Transfer to Akagera National Park and boat cruise

After breakfast you will be transferred to Akagera National Park arriving in time for lunch at your lodge, in the afternoon you will go for a mini game drive and a boat cruise on Lake Ihema enjoy spotting various wildlife including zebras, elephants and giraffes along the shores of the lake and water birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Full day game drives in Akagera National Park

Enjoy breakfast and head to the park for a full day game drive in Akagera National Park, explore the northern sector of the park which is home to huge concentrations of wildlife species including the Big Five – lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants and rhinos.

Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Transfer back to Kigali for departure

After morning breakfast, you will checkout for your lodge and return to Kigali with en-route lunch. Your guide will drop you off at the airport to catch your departure flight back home bring your safari to an end.
