Detailed itinerary of 6 Days Gorillas and Wildlife Safari – Uganda Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

On arrival in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative, your private driver-guide and be driven to your hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, you will be picked up by our guide and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the journey, you will have two stopovers. One at the Equator in Kayabwe to stand in both Northern and Southern Hemisphere, take pictures and by some crafts. Another stopover in Mbarara City for lunch, proceed to Bwindi Forest with a drive through the magnificent rolling hills. Arrive in the evening, check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Have an early breakfast and head to the park with your packed lunch for gorilla trekking, you will have a briefing at the park headquarters about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the mountain gorillas. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, head into the forests looking to these gentle giants.

The trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night, you are allowed to spend only one hour with the gorillas watching them go on with their life in the forest, play, feed and groom each other and take some of the fascinating pictures.

For a great experience, you are encouraged to carry enough water, sunglasses, rain coats, hats and wear sturdy shoes. Afterwards, return to your lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you can decided to stay at the lodge and rest or go for a visit to the Batwa Community where you will interact with the local forest people and discover a lot about the culture and customs. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Travel to Queen Elizabeth via the Ishasha sector- Afternoon Game Drive

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, checkout of your lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha Sector – a famous region of the park for the rare tree climbing lions and other wildlife species such as monkeys, kobs, cape buffaloes, elephants and birds among others.

With en-route game drive, you will head to your lodge for lunch as you prepare to go for another game drive in the Kasenyi Plains looking for wildlife. This area is famous for predators like lions and hyenas as it is a breeding area for Uganda Kobs. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Game drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise

Wake up so early, have breakfast and head to the Kasenyi Plains and other tracks for morning risers. Here you will have a chance of seeing lions, buffaloes, antelopes, elephants and elands among others. After the game drive, you will drive back to your lodge for lunch as you prepare for a boat cruise on Kazinga Chanel.

As you cruise on this water channel connecting Lake George and Lake Edward, you will enjoy seeing schools of hippos and Nile crocodiles, herds of elephants and buffaloes, several bird species like Crested Cranes among others on the banks of the channel. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Morning game drive as you Depart to Kampala

Enjoy breakfast and go for a morning game drive looking for more animals you must have missed during the previous game drives. Exit the park and embark on a journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch, you will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight back home or at your hotel.
