Detailed itinerary of 5 Days Chimpanzees & Gorilla Habituation Safari From Kigali
Day 1: Kampala – Kibale National Park
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative – your private driver guide. After a short briefing about the safari you shall embark on a journey to Kibale National Park, Uganda’s Primate Capital and the best place for chimpanzee trekking in Africa.
Along the way you will have a stopover in Kayabwe for pictures at the equator and in Fort Portal Town which lies just under the Rwenzori Mountains. Proceed to your lodge for lunch after check-in. In the afternoon you will go for a guided walk in the Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary, here you will enjoy incredible sightings of various bird species and primates such as black and white colobus monkeys and olive baboons among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking – Kibale Forest – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to Kibale Park Headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking and the right way to conduct yourself while in the presence of the chimpanzees. In company of a ranger guide, enter into the rain forest. The hike takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they nestled last night. Spend one hour with the chimpanzees, watching them go on with their life in forest, feeding, playing and grooming each other. Then trek back to the park headquarters to pick your certificates, meet your guide and return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will embark on a drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. With en-route game, head to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, you will go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, a natural water way connecting Lake George to Lake Edward. During the cruise, you will have a chance to see several animals including schools of hippos and crocodiles in the waters and herds of elephants and buffaloes and they drink water along the shores and several water birds.
After lunch, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route game drive in Ishasha Sector where you might see tree climbing lions resting on fig trees. Continue to the park arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla Habituation Experience
Wake up early and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla habituation experience conduction by a UWA Staff. In groups of 4 people you will join researchers and scientists and venture into the forest looking for a semi-habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek takes about a full day with 4 hours spent in the presence of gorilla family learning how scientists collect samples, name the gorillas, observe their individual characteristics and take amazing videos and pictures of them. Trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and either return to the lodge or head to the Batwa Village for a cultural experience, here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, visit the medicine man among others.
Overnight Buhoma Haven Lodge

Day 5: Bwindi Forest – Kampala / Entebbe
After a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a journey to Kampala with stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre to explore the lifestyle of the Ankole and Bahima People. Thereafter proceed to Kampala where you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
