Detailed Itinerary of 2 Days Uganda Gorilla Trek starting from Kigali
Day 1: Kigali – Rwanda to Bwindi – Uganda
On arrival at Kigali International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Kigali City, you will be met by our guide and after briefing you about your tour. You will head to Kigali City for a short city tour exploring the cleanliest city in Africa and visit some of the important sites like the Genocide War Memorial Centers, Kimironko Market among others.
Then embark on a journey of 4 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Katuna (Uganda – Rwanda border), after clearing with the authorities at the Katuna Border, you will head to Ruhija Sector in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This journey will give a chance to see the beautiful countryside and landscapes in Rwanda and Uganda.
Rwanda has eye-catching rolling hills and plantations while Uganda has dense green forest around the Bwindi area. Arrive in the park in the evening, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters where you will join other trekkers for briefing about gorilla trekking and what to follow while in the forests and in presence of mountain gorillas. In groups of 8 people and be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head to the starting point, head into the forests of Bwindi in search for the gorilla family you are assigned to.
The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours and more depending on the movement of the gorilla family you are trekking and their feeding range, as you trek through the forests of Bwindi. You will spot other forest creatures such as black and white colobus monkeys, chimpanzees and many forest birds.
Once you spot the gorilla family you are trekking, you will be allowed to spend one hour in the presence taking pictures and observing their amazing behavior, watch gorilla mothers groom their babies, silverbacks protecting the groups and you are allowed to take pictures as long as your flash light is off.
Trek back to the park’s headquarters where you will pick your gorilla trekking certificates, meet your guide and embark on a journey back to Kigali City where you will be dropped off either at your airport or at the hotel.
