Detailed itinerary of 12 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival

On arrival in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe.

Day 2: Rhino Tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Have an early breakfast and depart for Murchison Falls National Park found in north-western Uganda. Along the magical journey, have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track rhinos. You will spend a total of 1 hour with the rhinos after allocating them with the help of your ranger guide.

After this thrilling experience, you will proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Have a visit at the top of Murchison Falls for magnificent views of River Nile as it forces through rocks to form Murchison Falls.

Day 3: Game Drives and Boat Safari

After an early breakfast, we start the day with a game drive on the northern bank of River Nile and look out for giraffes, elephants, hartebeests, buffaloes, leopards, lions and different bird species.

In the afternoon, the safari continues with a boat safari on River Nile. You will join others on a relaxed boat safari providing more opportunities for spotting a variety of animals and birds. Watch the water of the Murchison Falls – the Devils Cauldron. The boat safari will give you a great animal viewing and the Murchison Falls.

Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest

After early breakfast, we depart to Kibale Forest National Park – home to chimpanzees and other 12 species of primates. On this journey, you will enjoy stunning views as you pass small villages, local markets and several bird life. You will arrive at your lodge later that evening ready for tomorrow’s adventure.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Community Walk

Have breakfast and head to the park for chimpanzee trekking, join fellow trekkers at the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking and the rightful way to behave while in the forests of Kibale.

Trek through the forests of Kibale looking for chimpanzees, you might have sightings of red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, butterflies, and several bird species. When you locate chimpanzees, enjoy picture moments and watch them as they play and feed.

In afternoon you will visit Bigodi Village and wetland known for its rich diversity of birds and primates depending on the availability of time. By taking part in the safari experience, you are contributing to the development of the community because the proceeds are used to build schools and offer small loans.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for another amazing wildlife experience in the plain of Kasenyi. The drive will take us through views of several crater lakes and the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Ranges en-route.

On arrival in the park, you will have a short game drive as we proceed to the lodge for lunch.

Uganda Kobs in Kasenyi Plains

Day 7: Game drive and Boat Safari

Rise early for breakfast and head to the park for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Lookout for lions, elephants, buffaloes, kobs, waterbucks among others.

In the afternoon, the safari continues with a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel which is a water channel connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. The boat safari offers you great photography sessions in a relaxed way with lots of bird life on the shores, crocodiles, elephants among others.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Forest

After breakfast, start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – home to Mountain Gorillas. The journey takes you through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for its tree-climbing lions.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Today is the highlight of your Uganda Safari, wake up for breakfast and be transferred to the park for gorilla trekking. Join other trekkers at the park headquarters for briefing about gorillas trekking, in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas.

The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. You are allowed to spend only hour in the presence of the gorillas watching them go on with their life in the forest.

Day 10: Transfer to Jinja

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Entebbe from where you will proceed to Jinja – the adventure capital of East Africa.

Day 11: White Water Rafting on River Nile

Today morning after an early breakfast, you will transfer to the starting point of the white water rafting. Jinja is the origin of River Nile, visit the source of River Nile where it starts its 400 km journey through Africa and a great challenge for rafters. You shall have a whole day white water rafting experience.

Day 12: Departure

This is the last day of your 12 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari, we hope you have had a fantastic time exploring Uganda. Your driver will transfer you to Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home.
