Day 1: Pick-up, Rwanda City and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
When you arrive at Kigali International Airport or after enjoying breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you safari guide will be ready waiting for you. He will give you a short briefing about what to expect on the safari and go for a short Kigali City Tour, however this depends on your arrival time.
The Kigali City Tour takes you on a visit and exploration to the major historic and cultural sites in Kigali City like Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, Craft Markets in Kigali City. And the Kandt National Museum and the Presidential Museum.
After this eye-opening tour, have lunch at a restaurant in Kigali City, after lunch you will embark on a journey to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze, Kinigi. Along the way, lookout for scenic views of the rolling hills of Rwanda’s a thousand hills. The drive from Kigali City to Volcanoes National Park is approximately 2 hours, arriving in the park in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day at relaxation.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Today is the highlight of your Rwanda safari, expect to wake up early breakfast, then drive to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and the dos and donts to follow. In groups 8 people, your range will assign you a gorilla family to trek. Then walk to the staring point and and enter into the forest searching from a habituated gorilla family assigned to you.
The gorilla trek takes approximately 2 hours to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and where they spent a previous night. When you locate them, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them observing their behavior which is similar to human beings, watch the baby gorillas being groomed by their mothers and breast feed and watch the silverbacks protect their families.
You can take pictures as long as your flashlight is off, then trek back to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificates them return to the lodge. Spend the afternoon at leisure recuperating from the gorilla trekking experience or take an optional activity of visit the Musanze caves or the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

Day 3: Visit Gorilla Guardians Village and Departure
Enjoy a leisure breakfast, meet your guide and head to the Gorilla Guardians Village “Ib’Iwacu Village” for an insight of the history and culture of Rwanda.
The Ib’Iwacu Village is home to some of the former poachers who depended on the forest for survival. Visiting this village contributes heavily to conservation of the mountain gorillas as the because they are able to earn from sharing their culture as opposed to poaching, you will be entertained by local dances and drama, take part in crowning of the king and the queen, be entertained by local dances and drama among others activities which will give more insight about the culture and traditions of the local Rwanda people.
