Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Wildebeest & Gorillas Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha, Tanzania
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you will have a short city tour in Arusha, have dinner and spend the overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
After an early breakfast you will embark on a journey to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a drive through Mto Wa Mbu and Ngorongoro Highlands, have a stop at the Ngorongoro Crater View point to enjoy scenic views of the Ngorongoro crater from above.
Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive with picnic lunch, during the game drive you will see several animals including prides of lions, herds of cape buffaloes and elephants, elands, wildebeests, gazelles, zebras and cheetahs among others. You will also get to visit the Crater Lake – Lake Magadi found within the crater floor where you will see several animals and birds like large flocks of flamingos. As the sunsets, ascend the crater and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Game Drive in Ndutu Area – Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to the Ndutu Area for a morning game drive. Between the end of December and end of April, the wildebeests settle in this area and if you visit in these months you will be able to meet a lot of herbivores and cats. Also, this is a calving period so you will be able to see hundreds of calves born every day and predator – prey action as big cats like lions and cheetahs try to feast on the vulnerable calves. Continue with the game drive as you head to Serengeti National Park with en-route lunch, arrive in the late afternoon, check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Follow the Great Wildebeest Migration
Today we follow the Great Wildebeest Migration, watch thousands of wildebeests on their way through the Serengeti savannah plains in search for food and water as part of their annual journey in the Serengeti – Mara Ecosystem. The wildebeests are followed by predators such as lions, leopards, African wild dogs and cheetahs looking for a day’s meal.
You will enjoy lunch at one of the picnic sites and continue with the game drive till evening. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Morning game drive and drive to Arusha
Following your breakfast, check out of your lodge and head to the park for a morning game drive as you exit the park and embark on a journey back to Arusha with en-route lunch. Arrive in the evening, check-in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Fly to Kigali and Drive to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast at your hotel, check out and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Kigali International Airport. On landing you will be meet by your Rwandan Driver-Guide and drive to Volcanoes National Park after lunch in Kigali. Expect to arrive in Ruhengeri in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge and spend the evening at rest, enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer back to Kigali – Departure
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas conducted by a senior ranger guide. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Once you locate the gorillas, spend one in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other. Take as many photos and videos as you wish, then later trek back to the starting point, meet your driver and drive back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight, bringing your safari to an end. s
