Detailed itinerary of 12 Days Uganda Safari Tour

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe and Transfer to Kampala

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our guide “Welcome to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa”. Be driven to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe for dinner and overnight.

If you arrive early you will have a city tour around Entebbe City

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, depart from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park which is the largest national park in Uganda. Along the way you will have several stops, you will visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Masindi, home to about 20 white rhinos. Here you will take a guided rhino tracking experience on foot, later have lunch and proceed to Murchison Falls. When you arrive in the park, you will hike to the top of Murchison Falls for a great scenic views of the Nile River. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise – Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up early for a cup of coffee and breakfast then start an early morning game drive with a ranger guide through various tracks within Murchison Falls National Park where you may see herds of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda Kibs, lions, Giraffes, Hyenas, topis among others. Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, head to Paara for a 3 hour boat cruise on the River Nile, the longest river in the world. The river hosts high concentration of hippos and Nile crocodiles plus a variety of birds like giant kingfishers, fish eagles among others.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Have early breakfast, checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park – The World’s Primate Capital and home to 13 species of primates including a huge population of chimpanzees. You will have lunch along in Fort Portal City which is approximately 6-7 hours’ drive via the scenic Rift Valley landscape. Proceed to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking at exactly 7:30 am. At 8 am, the hiking starts accompanied by guides. The trek takes approximately 2-5 hours or more depending on where the chimpanzees are located on that day, lookout for other primates including olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others. You are allowed to spend one hour observing the chimpanzees and their life in the forest of Kibale.

Return back to the lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, go for a guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, an eco-tourism site managed by local people. Their conservation story gives you a taste of how people live together with nature, during the walk you will spot various bird species and other primates. You may also opt to visit some homesteads within community before returning back for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. In afternoon you will go a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, the boat cruise offer view of huge schools of hippos and Nile Crocodiles in the waters of the channels, elephants and water birds along the banks of the channel. After the cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Have early breakfast, checkout of your lodge and go for a morning game drive in Ishasha Sector where you will get to see the rare tree climbing lions lounging on tree branches.  Bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth National Park heading to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route lunch.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned as the home of half of the world’s mountain gorillas thus making it one of the best places to track mountain gorillas in Africa.  Check in, have dinner at the lodge and overnight.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking and village walk

Have early breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla rules. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned one of the habituated gorilla families in Bwindi Forest, head into the forest with an armed ranger and guide looking for this family. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

You are allowed to spend only one in the presence of the gorillas watching them go on with their life, observe them feed, play and take amazing pictures of them. You might even get lucky enough to see other primates, birds among others. Return back to the lodge for a short rest, in afternoon you will go for community walk visiting the Women’s Craft Centre. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Have early breakfast and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for golden monkey tracking, you will have a briefing at the park headquarters, then hiking up in the bamboo forest at 3,000 meters altitude where you will find the beautiful golden monkeys.

After spending amazing time with these playful creatures, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi arriving in time for lunch. Have the rest of the day resting, have dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, meet your guide and embark on a journey to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in time for lunch. Then go for an afternoon game drive enjoy seeing various animals including herds of buffaloes, zebras, impalas, giraffes among others.

Head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Morning Walking Safari  

After a delicious breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters, meet your guide and go for a game walk which is only available in Lake Mburu National Park. You will have an opportunity to see what you could have seen on any game drive but this time round, do it by walking.

Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. You will enjoy close encounters with wildlife including zebras long the shores of the lake, hippos in the water and various water birds.  Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: Departure

Have a lazy morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast, then checkout and embark on a journey back to Kampala. Your guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home.
