Detailed itinerary of 10 Days Best of Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Welcome to Rwanda – the land of a thousand hills. Our representative, your personal driver-guide will be waiting at the airport to pick you and transfer you to your hotel for overnight. If you arrival in the morning or early afternoon, you will have a short tour of Kigali City visiting the genocide memorial.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park – Boat Safari
After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel for a short City Tour, visit sights like the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Kandt Museum after which you transfer to Akagera National Park.
You will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge after check-in and late leave for the evening boat safari on Lake Ihema. Enjoy a beautiful breeze and some sightings of birds and wildlife. Depending on your interest, join in on a night game drive in search of the nocturnal animals.

Day 3: Game Drive in Akagera National Park
Spend a full day exploring Akagera National Park.
Being the only savannah park in Rwanda, Akagera National Park is home several big and small mammals. After an early breakfast your guide will pick you up and go for a game drive towards the northern sector of the park which is less bushy offering better opportunities for animal sightings.
You will take the lakeshore drive along the different lakes as you look for various wildlife like zebras, giraffes, impalas, elephants, buffaloes, topis and the elusive leopards. On a lucky day, you will sight a pride of lions before they go into hiding. For a keen birder, there is a beautiful array of birdlife to see and different landscapes to enjoy.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast, depart Akagera National Park for Nyungwe Forest National Park via Kigali. Have a stopover in Huye for lunch and a visit to the National Museum to learn more about the history and traditions of the Rwanda People. Arrive in Nyungwe Forest later in the evening.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk in Nyungwe Forest
After an early breakfast, leave for chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest. The forest is home to 13 species of primates include Chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkeys, and Columbus monkeys and over 300 bird species. You will be transferred to the briefing area where you will meet your community guide and receive briefing before you start your trek.
The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees, you are allowed to spend only 1 hour in their presence watching them play on tree branches, groom each other among others.
Return to the lodge for lunch and later go for a canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest. The Canopy Walk allows you beautiful views of the forest from above as you admire nature.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Leave for Volcanoes National Park after breakfast, enjoy the different sights and winding roads in the land of a thousand hulls. You will have opportunities to have different stopovers for pictures and stretching deepening on your needs.
Overnight at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Have early breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the forest. After being assigned a gorilla family to trek, head into the forest on a trek of about 2 to 6 hours.
When you locate the gorillas, you are allowed to spend only one hour watching them go on with their life in the forest, take amazing pictures. Return to the starting point, meet your guide and return to your lodge.

Day 8: Visit the Gorilla Guardians Village & Transfer to Lake Kivu
Have early breakfast, meet your guide and for a visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village where you will learn about the Rwandan Culture. Become a King or Queen for a day, get involved in knitting, learn how to use a bow and arrow and enjoy songs and folks from the Rwanda Society.
After this experience transfer to Lake Kivu for a relaxing time.

Day 9: Lake Kivu Experience
Have a relaxing experience on the shores of the beautiful Lake Kivu, activities you can engage in include a visit to the hot springs, visit DR Congo – Rwanda Border, and relax at the lakeside in the evening sipping a way to your favorite drink.

Day 10: Departure
Today is your last day on this 10 Days Best of Rwanda Safari. Start your day with breakfast and transfer to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home. We hope you have enjoyed your time exploring this beautiful small country dominated by thousands of hills.
