This 3 Days Rwanda Primate Safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park – the most remarkable primate destination on the continent offering you an opportunity to meet the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in their natural habitat.
You will also have an opportunity to visit the Iby’Iwacu Village – the Gorilla Guardian’s Village to learn about the Rwandan culture and traditions.

Day 1: Arrival, Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival at Kigali International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our Driver- Guide, after briefing you about the safari and what to expect you will go for a Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Craft Markets and the Belgium Camp.
After lunch you will start a 3 hours journey to Volcanoes National Park, driving through the green hills. Arrive in Musanze in the evening, check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day at rest, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience & Cultural Experience
Wake up early for breakfast, then transfer to the briefing area at the park headquarters in Kinigi. Here a senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations, after registration and be assigned a gorilla family to trek, head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas.
Led by ranger guides and rangers, you will search for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Once you locate the gorilla family, spend one hour watching these gentle giants groom, play, feed and take as many photos as you wish. Later trek back to the starting point for a short rest. Later in the day you will head to the Gorilla’s Guardian Village for a cultural experience, here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the locals and get to taste some local meals. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking & Departure
After breakfast, return to the park again for golden monkey trekking. Join other visitors at the park headquarters for briefing about golden monkey trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of these beautiful primates. Led by armed rangers and guide, head into the forest searching for golden monkeys found in the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park.
Once you locate the golden monkey troop, spend an hour watching these beautiful primates play, feed and groom each other. Golden monkeys are very social primates so do not be surprised if one of them gets close to you or climbs your leg.
Return to your lodge for lunch and later check out and drive back to Kigali where you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at Kigali International Airport to catch your flight back home or to your next destination.
