Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Primate Adventure – Gorillas, Golden Monkeys & Chimpanzees
Day 1: Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival at Kigali International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and go for a short Kigali City tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site the Kimironko Market. After lunch in Kigali, you will embark on a journey to Volcanoes National Park arriving in the evening, check in the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After early breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the briefing point in Kinigi where you will join other visitors in briefing. Here a senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas.
The trek into the forest looking for mountain gorillas on a trek that takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Once you locate your gorilla family you will spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other.
Later trek back to the park headquarters, meet your driver guide and embark on a journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park with border crossing at Cyanika Border. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and Batwa Experience
Wake up early for breakfast and head to park headquarters for briefing about golden monkey trekking. A senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of these beautiful primates found in the bamboo forest.
Golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park takes approximately 2-4 hours of looking for these playful primates, they forage in the bamboo forests and you will watch them play, feed, and pick fruits. Unlike mountain gorillas, golden monkeys are not so scared of the humans and some will come to your feet.
After this amazing experience, you will trek back to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon head to the Batwa Village for a cultural experience, here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the community elders and visit the medicine man among others.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park – Africa’s Primate Capital. The journey takes you through Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will enjoy a game drive along the way, while in the park you will see several animals including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elands, warthogs among others.
Enjoy lunch and continue with your journey to Kibale Forest National Park arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking & Afternoon Bigodi Swamp Walk
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking, a senior range guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest takes approximately 30 minutes to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the chimpanzees or where they spent their previous night. Chimpanzees are very mobile primates and as you are nearing them, you will hear their hoots and sounds. You will spend one hour in their presence watching them play, feed, groom and feed. You are free to take pictures and videos for memory purposes as you learn more about these playful primates.
Trek back to the park headquarters, meet your driver guide and return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a guided walk in the Bigodi Swamp where you will enjoy more sightings of primates such as chimpanzees, olive baboons and several bird species.
